Our group in the media
Besides publications in scientific journals, our group every now and then gets attention from the regular media. This gives us the opportunity to showcase our efforts to a bigger part of society, and to translate our results to a format that can be appreciated by a broader public.
June 2019: A nice summary of the publication of Daniel Balazs on Colloidal‐Quantum‐Dot Superlattices in “Materials Connect” (MRSBulletin)
February 2018: After being awarded the Physica prize 2018, Maria appeared in articles in different newsmedia. Among those was an interview with the “Dagblad van het Noorden” (the regional newspaper), which they published on 03-03-2018. =>
January 2018: An article in the NRC (Dutch newspaper) tells the public about our hot electrons.
May 2016: Article in NRC (in Dutch), about recent developments in Perovskite solar cells, and our work in that field.
April 2016: Science Linx, the University’s outreach agency (mainly targeting high school students), has done a piece on our work in the Perovskite field.
Januari 2015: Jan Anton Koster and Maria Antonietta Loi wrote an article (in Dutch) in the “Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Natuurkunde” (Dutch Journal of Physics) about the invention of blue LED’s, for which the inventors won the Nobel prize for Physics 2014.
December 2012: Article in Post Europe, concerning Maria’s ERC grant. Post Europe is the monthly digital newsletter for researchers working on European Research Programmes at the University of Groningen and UniversityMedical Center Groningen / UMCG.
November 2012: Interview (in Dutch) with Jia Gao in STW publication “Technologisch Toptalent 2012”, in which he describes the work he did in our group on carbon nanotubes: “Nanobuizen met inhoud”.
November 2012: Unifocus online videomagazine of the RUG
November 2012: NRC writes an article (in Dutch) on Alumni fundraising, following their attendance of a meeting from the “alumnikring Den Haag-Rotterdam” (a group of RUG alumni from the region Den Haag-Rotterdam). This group is raising money among fellow alumni to support the research done in our group, more specifically the research project of Mark Speirs.
June 2011: Het “Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Natuurkunde” (Dutch Physics Magazine) invites Maria to write a comprehensive and popular scientific article about her research:
